Year Ahead 01:04
What within you will take flight this year? What winged creature will emerge from your body like a phoenix? What hope lies beneath your doubt like a panting animal? What solace has always been yours to lean into? What is waiting to fill you with what you were sure went down with the ship but here it is, standing before you in all of its stunning audacity: the wonder, the warmth, the possibility that there is more to this life than just the ache of living.

January 03:30
It’s always in January When the Christmas lights are out The warmth and love of December Replaced with only dark January The Christmas lights are out Warm December Replaced with only dark Lonely feeling Can’t translate clearly Steady breathing Just keeps shrinking Haven’t taken a deep breath All year So many ways This year may go So many days I can’t control Stepping outside without a coat Bare feet on frozen earth The wind has turned my skin to stone Trying to find what it’s worth Sinking with the snow These feelings grow old Merry-go-round, not so merry Strange it seems to carry The memory of distant spring So many ways This year may go So many days I can’t control Won’t let the fear Ruin this year There’s a softness I can hear Whispering the truth The story my breath knows Steady as my heartbeat Moving through the ebs and flows So many ways This year may go So many days I can’t control Haven’t taken a deep breath All year The year ahead Begins again The year ahead Begins again Haven’t taken a deep breath All year The year ahead Begins again The year ahead Begins again Haven’t taken a deep breath All year

Sacred Heart 01:20
there will be months you search for your own, kind, heart in the reflection of the water but instead are greeted by a carnival of doubt, the surface clouded by mud and debris, creatures who will not stop circling with their sharp tails and tongues, and you convince yourself this is how it will always be. and then there will a morning, one where you are just beginning to unzipper yourself from the night, when you do not expect to find yourself again, but you do, find yourself again, softer now. this whole time you’ve been here. you never left. stay for the times you remember and the times you forget. your sacred heart loves them both.

Wake up to see another day Tough love You learned to breathe Through all the haze Sweet love A softer memory Hold on You’ll learn to heal Begin to feel When All You can do Is move on through Don’t hold your breath Just let it in and let it go When all you can do Is move on through Close your eyes and Dream a little, Dream ‘til it’s true Don’t fear My love is always near Be brave There’s so much more So much to learn When All You can do Is move on through Don’t hold your breath Just let it in and let it go When all you can do Is move on through Close your eyes and dream a little Dream Close your eyes and dream a little Dream ‘til it’s True

about

New Year focuses on the transition form old to new, and digs into the anxieties of anticipating variable unknowns. Thick with questions and pondering, New Year end on an optimistic note, learning to cope with the stress and focus on living in the moment.
